Wordpress has been annoying me more and more since I started this site.
At first it was silly things, like code (HTML, CSS, etc) in pages and entries would sometimes get formatted or parts of the code would be removed / edited. That was annoying but someone told me to edit some settings and this appeared to have "fixed" my problem.
Then I realised that I couldn't carry variables from one page to another; poll scripts, email forms, etc all had to have the results / final pages without any styles because Wordpress was wiping my variables. (This is why my email form and search box for my ask&answer script have no style attached.) I actually went to their Support forum and asked if there was any way to stop this from happening and got no reply.
My .htaccess rules don't seem to work; Wordpress' .htaccess file is in the root directory of my site and I inserted all of my other .htaccess rules inside the same file and none of them work - adding the "stop direct linking" code results in an internal server error when you try to load up my site.
I can overwrite a domain (change lirae.net to lirae.co.uk) but that's about it.
Have you noticed that all of my folder links have "index.php" attached to the end of the folder? None of my index files work, no matter what I put in my .htaccess file.
Oh and the site barely works in Internet Explorer and I think that's because of Wordpress because all of my other sites work in Internet Explorer...
These are just some of my issues with Wordpress.
I decided last night that enough is enough; I'll find another blogging tool! One that's not crappy (CuteNews) and not old (b2)!
A lot of bloggers are starting to use this script called "TextPattern". I downloaded it last night, installed it and imported all of my Wordpress entries into it and...everything was saved as a blog entry, including the pages. All of the entries (and pages) were put into the "Uncategorized" category and when writing a new entry, I could only add it to up to two categories.
So TextPattern isn't for me.
I don't need bells and whistles, etc. I just need a blogging software, where I can add posts, categories, etc, add posts to as many categories as I'd like, has an RSS feed and won't mess around with anything else on my site (variables/PHP scripts and .htaccess, mainly). Pages aren't necessary but would be nice.
I'm about to start a hunt for a perfect blogging tool for me. I really don't think I'm ready to write my own little blogging script (yet).
Wish me luck! I have a feeling I might need it.
EDIT//
Rock the Socks^ is back up.
(Stupid menu looks like crap in IE.
)
Also added some Mini Quote Banners. Here's what they look like:
